Summary:

The Weld Foreman will be an integral part of our Production team and should possess skills in planning, scheduling, coordinating and managing the weld function in all areas of gas and air compression equipment.

Essential Functions

Safety

  • Play an integral part of cultivating a world class safety culture for the production facility
  • Ensure all safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained

Collaboration

  • Interact with sales/engineering on a daily basis for manufactured equipment
  • Oversee quality of products with an applications engineer and a quality control supervisor or engineer
  • Partners and collaborates with fabrication foreman and production employees on all projects

Organization

  • Ensure welding equipment and tools are maintained and in good condition; replace tools and equipment as needed
  • Manage simultaneous customer projects with strong understanding of production scheduling
  • Works toward proactive continuous improvement of shop activities using lean tools and action plans as needed

Planning

  • Identify materials required to properly complete assigned tasks
  • Layout jobs for welders

Quality

  • Develop welding procedures and ensure procedures are consistently practiced
  • Ensure all welding meets the specified requirements

Leading Others

  • Manage all staff in weld; directly supervise weld leads/supervisors and a weld trainer
  • Lead the efforts to ensure proper training has occurred for weld employees
  • Identify training and growth opportunities for weld employees
  • Maintain and lead the organization to achieve the cultural environment as set forth by executive management
  • Carry out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring and training employees
  • Appraise performance – rewarding and disciplining employees

Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • 4+ years of related experience and/or training in relevant industry or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Previous use of a forklift
  • Knowledge of safety reporting, adherence and effective use of safety practices
  • Strong mechanical capabilities and understanding
